Up for bidding - A Handpainted Birdhouse Gourd, BIRDHOUSE. The design goes all the way around the gourd. The gourd is painted in shades of white, and peach flowers, with bows, on a teal blue background. There are drain holes in the bottom, to help keep the bird's nest dry. This gourd is approximately 8.5" high, and 6.5" wide, at the fullest point. This gourd is a very thick gourd, and will give years of service, as long as a coat of clear acrylic, is sprayed on it each year. This gourd has approximately a 1.5" hole. There is a copper hanging ring, placed in the top of the gourd's neck. The gourd has been finished in a permanent, protective satin finish, three coates. The finish is non yellowing, and moisture resistant. This gourd is really pretty, will make a nice home for the little birdies. This makes a great gift for any bird lover, and Christmas will be here before we know it. This also makes a great house warming gift. Please keep in mind, we planted the seed, harvested the gourd, dried it over the winter, drilled holes, sanded, base coated, and took the seeds out, all before the gourd was ready to paint and enjoy.
