Description and photos to come in a few hours, patience please!
On May-05-08 at 00:05:09 PDT, seller added the following information:This is a very nice Hardinge TM-UM universal mill with what has got to be the most complete set of accessories possible.
I bought the machine from the original owner, who told me it was the last TM-UM Hardinge made, and very possibly one of the last mills they ever sold. He bought it in the early 80's. This machine is unique in that it has the universal (sweveling) table (which has power feed), and well as the gerbox that connects the table leadscrew to the dividing head.
Everything you see in the photos (tooling and attachments) is included:
Hardinge TM-UM universal mill, S/N 32195 on vertical head, 5C horizontal spindle, 3/4HP 2-speed 220V 3ph motor
Vertical head, 4C spindle
Helical-cutting gearbox on side of table, S/N 32184 with 4 gears and corresponding studs
Dividing head, S/N C889, 5C capacity, 4:1 handle-to-spindle ratio (only Hardinge did that fast of a ratio!), with external drive connection for helical cutting (very rare)
Tailstock S/N C889
Faceplate, T-slotted, for dividing head or HLV lathe, model C26
Drive-plate, unknown manufacture.
7 Dividing plates: PA-20, P-27, PA-37, PA-48, PA-75 and 2 more with no markings, look original tho.
4 gears in gearcase, 12 more extra. Many are original, some may not be. One of the extra gears has a needle bearing in the middle. Also an extra stud, keyed bushing, etc.
Hardinge vise with rotary base, original handle and work-stop (possibly incomplete and home-made)
4 Drawbars: 5C for dividing head, 4C for vertical head, two 5C for horizontal spindle, plus original wrench
5C horizontal arbor with external drive
Eight 4C collets: 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4; and of course they are all Hardinge
Horizontal overarm.
Hardinge 1" travel .001" dial indicator, 6 table stops, coolant accessories and electrical schematic.
The machine has been sitting without use for at least 15 years, I have owned it for 5. All paint is origial with minimal cleaning and to touchup. Everything is original except where noted. Screwheads are free from rounding, no hammer marks, etc. Blueing, brown, and color-casehardening colors on accessories are extremly good. And yes, it does run very nicely. No head rattling like a Bridgeport or gear-noise loke a Deckel.
The coolant pump is possibly plugged and the belt for it is missing.
Seriously, this thing is pretty nice. If you find any significant mis-representation when you receive the machine, return it for a refund (Contact me first of course).
Machine is bolted to a pallet, and I will prep it for shipping via flatbed and load it at no charge. Crating will be billed at cost, I'm not a carpenter! I will hire a proffessional.
I can possibly deliver it locally for a fee, and of course you can see it under power.
On May-08-08 at 19:45:32 PDT, seller added the following information:I overlooked the serial number of the machine itself. It is 32184, same as the helical gearbox and different from the vertical head.
Some more details on shipping: Weight is 1000Lbs give or take a few hundred. I have the machine bolted to a sturdy 4x4' pallet. I'm planning on soaking it with rust preventative (the waxy stuff), boxing up the tooling, covering with a blue tarp, and stretch-wrapping the whole thing. That I will do for free.
It could go flatbed or box-van like that. If it goes flatbed, I will make sure the truck driver ties it down nicely. I could load with a forklift or loading dock and pallet jack.
I noticed Ebay does freight estimates now, however they may be way overpriced. You could try getting your shipping quotes from companies like Yellow freight. If you don't have a forklift to undoad with, have the freight company quote delivery with a liftgate truck, and use a pallet jack to move it on the ground. Or I could arrange it on my end, I ship machines routineley.
