Item specifics
Condition: UsedBrand: Heartfield
This beautiful 5-String custom bass (Heartfield DR-5) was produced circa 1989 by Heartfield, a guitar company developed in Japan by Fender in the late 1980s--some say as Fender's answer to Ibanez during the '80s metal craze. As you can see, this is not a bolt-on bass guitar--it is a custom built neck-through-body construction. All hardware is finished in rich gold plate. Though, given some character with a couple of small venue dings, this guitar sounds gorgeous. The neck is easy on the hands, fretboard lightening fast and sure. The neck is constructed of Tri-Lam Maple/Graphite/Rosewood. The body is Alder with 2 piece book matched show-wood top. The fretboard is Rosewood over Graphite layered with 24 Jumbo frets. Scale length is 33.858" (860mm). Width at nut is 1.575". Radius is 19.685". Machine heads are Gotoh. Pickups are 2 single coil Hum canceling. Knob controls are Master volume, Balance Control between pickups and a Frequency Control. Toggle switch for Q width variation. The XLR and 1/4 outputs work simutaneously; the XLR allows signal to D.I. box, house P.A., console. Versatile--record direct signal and mic signal, for a blend. Superb XLR signal--warm, rich, clear. Powerful in church, especially that bottom 'B'. Wonderful sustain. This DR-5 can be tweeked to sound like P-Bass, Jaco Jazz Bass, Rock Bass--it handles any genre with aplomb. A 9V battery is stored in metal flip encasement on back of body--powers the active electronics. PayPal only. Shipping to lower 48 states only. This DR-5 is a fabulous guitar and great buy for Christmas. In 1989, the guitar was listed for $1800. Selling for far less. Comes with spacious case.
