My digital camera has a built-in flash so why do I need another?
built-in flashes are only effective to 12ft or less, but this high power flash is effective to 50ft or more!

The built in flash units of digital cameras are on average effective to only about 12 feet, and that's when your lens is at its widest-angle setting. When you want to zoom in on the action (towards the telephoto end of your zoom range) you'll find that your built in flash does exactly opposite of what you want, its range is reduced to about 8 feet, and sometimes even less! So, when you want to use your camera's telephoto capability that you paid for, but also require the built in flash, your pictures come out dark or, even worse, not at all!

To reduce or totally eliminate “Red-Eye”
	Even using the red-eye reduction feature of your camera (because the built-in flash is too close to the lens) the flash reflects off of your subjects retinas directly back into the lens and often results in pictures with “red-eye”. The height advantage alone of the flash on the bracket greatly reduces or eliminates this "red-eye" causing retina flash bounce back.   This can be totally eliminated by utilizing the bounce feature of the flash head to "bounce" the light off of a ceiling, for professional looking results.

Direct Built-In Flash

To get professional looking bounce flash results Direct on-camera flash is not the best lighting for portraits, because it casts an unattractive shadow behind the subject, provides little modeling of the face, is harsh and produces red-eye. Utilizing the bounce feature, you can soften the light by bouncing it off a nearby ceiling or from another white surface, such as a bounce card, sheet of poster board or an umbrella reflector. This type of lighting is more attractive as it eliminates harsh shadows and the flat look of direct on-camera flash.

Why can't I just use any flash or slave?
They can’t connect to the camera or will not fire at the right time!
Ordinary flash units will not work because most digital cameras lack a way to connect and/or mount an external flash. If your camera model has an accessory shoe or flash output terminal, you would still have to shell out big $$$ for a major brand name flash unit, cable and bracket.

Even more importantly, most digital cameras emit a "pre- flash" and/or a "red-eye" pulse that fire before the shutter opens, then an additional flash pulse is fired to actually light your picture. This "pre-flash" ("double-flash") and/or "red-eye" pulse confuses other flash and slave units, causing them to go off at the wrong time, and are useless for your digital camera.

The new advanced digital pulse counting slave circuitry of the Sunpak Digital Slave Grip is not fooled by the "pre-flash" and eliminates the need for an electrical connection to your camera. Five LED-indicated pulse counting/delay variations are incorporated into the Sunpak allowing it to ignore "pre-flashes" and fire the powerful High Power flash at the precise moment your camera requires for flash lighting to be effective.

Can I use the DSG Set with a telephoto or wide-angle conversion lens? YES!
Unlike your camera's built in flash; the flash head is mounted on the Sunpak Grip high up and to the side where even the largest conversion lenses will not block it. You will enjoy more even illumination and at a much greater distance, which is especially needed when working with your telephoto lens.

Does the DSG Set require special batteries? NO!
Thyristor circuitry recycles reserve power from one shot to the next allowing four standard AA size alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries to power the flash for hundreds of shots. An additional four standard AA size batteries will power the DSG for over a year of typical use.

What else can it do?
The DSG Set is also the answer when you need the power to shoot at smaller apertures for increased depth of field, but when additional flash power is not needed, just turn it off and the Digital Slave Grip is still useful as a comfortable and steadying contoured handgrip.
At closer distances, the bounce feature can supply the additional diffuse lighting needed to fill in shadows and, light up the background giving your pictures a professional look.
Removed from the camera, it's a remote slave flash that can be automatically triggered by your camera's built in flash. Just place & aim the DSG Set anywhere to fill in shadows, gain extra detail, boost the light level, or highlight a selected area.
