This magnificent chess set depicts the battle at Sekigahara between the Tokugawa family and the Toyotomi family. The outcome of the battle (in which the Tokugawa family was victorious) was a definition of political relationships which were maintained during two and a half centuries of peace, stability, and growth.

The Tokugawa pieces include: Tokugawa Ieyasu (founder of the Dynasty of Japanese Shoguns), Princess Asahi (second wife of Tokugawa Ieyasu), Honda Tadakatsu (the greatest samurai warrior of the time), Tokugawa Samurais (top of the social hierarchy – wore two swords as a symbol of their caste), Himeji Castle (built to commemorate the defeat of Toyotomi’s men).

The Toyotomi pieces include: Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Japanese general – credited with the unification of Japan), Lady Yodo (principal wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi), Ishida Mitsunari (loyalist who served Hideyoshi from the age of 10), Hideyoshi Samurais (elite class of professional soldiers, only class allowed by Hideyoshi to carry weapons or armor), Osaka Castle (built by Hideyoshi in 1582).

This is a NEW IN THE BOX SET. Features finely crafted HAND PAINTED coldcast resin figures. The tallest pieces measure 3 1/2" tall.
