Just One of Several Rare, Vintage Books We're Offering Here Right Now!
The Home University Bookshelf
9 Volumes - Wondrously Illustrated In Color!
Bid now for yet another piece of historic literature!
But these are not just stories from the past but also projects, music, loads of family fun and education. You will get almost 3,000 pages of historical, classic home education in these 9 volumes!
These magnificant volumes offered households a wealth of classic literature for the young to the old, from nursery rhymes to folklore to mythology to classic stories, these 9 volumes are considered a historic collection and are closing in on being 100 years old!
All of these Hardback volumes have their original green cover boards with colorful inlaid illustrations on the front covers. No jackets are present and we doubt any were issued originally although we do not know for certain.
Since the Good is not the best book rating, and not even close on a normal grading scale (with Mint, Fine, Very Good coming before) we want to describe each one individually and let you know how each stacks up after all these years. In general, all books retain their original square shape nicely. Some staining is present on some of the boards but no odors. All pages are intact. There may be some light tearing here and there but nothing major at all unless noted below. Some color rubs occur on all the volumes and some age tanning of the spines is common. All the black spine text and designs are clearly visible. Some of the books are cracked a bit where you can see into the netting. We looked through much of the pages in all the volumes and we saw no writing.
The color illustrations are remarkable in all volumes, still crisp and clear just as the text is. Only faint age tanning of the pages is present.
Any variations from this general description will appear below with specific volumes described:
- Vol 1: Fun and Thought for Little Folk: A little more pulling away of the board at the spine than with most of the other volumes.
- Vol II: Golden Stories
- Vol III: Folk-Lore, Fables, and Fairy Tales
- Vol IV: Picture-Stories and Music (2 loose pages with about a third torn away, tucked in the back of this volume
- Vol V: Famous Stories and Verse (some loose pages)
- Vol VI: Things to Make and Things to Do
- Vol VII: Nature, Recreation, and Physical Development, some staining around the page edges but no physical damage was done to the pages due to this moisture
- Vol VIII: Stories from Every Land, some loose page sections
- Vol IX: Boys and Girls Who Became Famous
Stats:
Edition: Appears to be 1st Printing: 1st Publisher: The University Society Year: 1927 Pages: Each volume is about 350 pages, give or take

- We do not think it's fair to other bidders to end an auction early unless there is an error or omission in the listing.
Shipping Policies and International Bidding
- Save Postal Costs when you win more than one item. See our current eBay Auction Catalog Here.
- ***We refuse to profit from shipping! It's high enough as is. Once we cover your package and mailing costs, we refuse to add one cent more to your cost!***
- We often sell books and if you're ordering single books that require no larger boxing, you do not have to worry about bumps in the mail! We mail every single book in new cardboard boxing for heavy-duty protection (unless the size is awkward and using our book mailers would not adequately protect your book in transit - then we may opt to re-use a like-new, CLEAN and sturdy box.)
- We frequently ship within 24 hours of receiving proper payment!
-
International Bidders: We can not mark customs forms as "gift" for this or any other sale and we must write an accurate declaration of value. International Bidders Please Note: If this item weighs more than 4 pounds, we are forced by our postal system to ship via Priority Mail because we are not allowed to ship via Economy Surface anymore and the slightly less costly First Class Airmail is only available for items 4 pounds and under. We do NOT like this expensive postage and if you know of a less costly way to get your item to you we are open to suggestions.
-
International Buyers, Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges (typically collected upon delivery or pickup) are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in the item price or shipping charges. Please check with your country's customs office prior to bidding to determine what these additional costs will be.

Many of our buyers have been surprised to find a refund from us! If shipping is much less than estimated, we'll immediately refund your over-payment.
