Hondo can't convince Angie to move off her land in anticipation of an Apache attack. He leaves her ranch, only to be ambushed by desperado Ed Lowe (Leo Gordon) -- who happens to be Angie's long-absent husband. Hondo, half Indian himself, is troubled at having to fight his brethren in an all-out uprising but returns to protect Angie.  Doing the unexpected, he leads the woman and other families through marauding Indian attacks to safety.  Along the way, he discovers he has fallen in love.
