This is an Authentic Native American Hand made and Hand painted Hopi "Large Sherd Vase" pottery! It is approximately 10" tall and about 10 1/2" wide. This is a "very" beautiful piece. It has wonderful coloring with some nice fire clouds, the symmetery is perfect and the stone polishing is exceptional! The detail on the painting is very nice! Each "sherd" (Or mosaic)has a different painting inside of it. There are approximately 60 different ones! Hopi pottery is distinguished by its warm yellow - orange slip and polychrome designs. Traditional outdoor firing, as well as the iron content of the clay, produces variations in the yellowish surface color. It is signed on the bottom by the artist,"Gloria Mahle". She is a member of the Rabbitt / Tobacco Clan and is a self taught artist. She was featured in Native peoples Magazine, Arizona Highways and Pueblo Artists Portraits by Toba Pato Tucker. She has been making pottery for since 1980. Gloria has won Best of Division, Curators Award at the Museum Of Northern Arizona Show, numerous Awards at the Hopi Marketplace, and 3rd Place - Miniatures at Santa Fe Indian Market. We purchased this directly from Gloria.

Please note that even though we have similar items in other auctions that no two are alike! We take new pictures of every piece we sell so that you know exactly what you're getting.
