| Amazing Ingredients in
LIFE SPICE... |

|
Legend has it that the name "horny goat weed"
came from a herder who noticed his goats became more energetic,
and more sexually active, after they ate the plant. The Chinese call it
Yin Yang Huo, which loosely means "licentious goat plant."
Although horny goat weed also has a long history of traditional
use for kidneys, joints, liver disorders and more,
its principle use is as an aphrodisiac, and fatigue fighter.

Horny Goat Weed
(YIN YANG HUO) epimedium grandiflorum
This amazing weed is one of
the most valued tonics of Chinese herbalism.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences recommends the regular use of
Yin Yang Huo
to slow the
aging process, as it improves overall quality of life.
Yin Yang Huo is known by many names, including
Horny Goat Weed, Fairy Wings, Bishop's Hat, and Barrenwort.
It's Latin name is
epimedium grandiflorum. It is
a member of the
Barberry family.
Yin Yang Huo has
been shown to stimulate the supra renal glands, and trigger
increased hormonal secretions. Research has shown that male
sperm count and semen density increase substantially.
It also expands the circulatory system's blood vessels,
allowing hormone-enriched blood to penetrate sensitive tissues.
The Chinese claim that this improved circulation restores
energy, while nervous stimulation is boosted as the brain is
flooded with hormone-rich blood.
Animal studies
show that Horny Goat Weed functions as an adaptogen (such as
maca, and Korean ginseng) by increasing the levels of epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine when they are low (an
energy-promoting effect), but reducing cortisol levels when they
are elevated (an anti-stress effect). There is also evidence
that Horny Goat Weed restores low levels of both testosterone
and thyroid hormone, which may account for some of the benefits.

MACA
Lepidium
meyenii
This miraculous energizer and
natural anti-stress combater is very highly recommended for treatments of
infertility and male impotence. Maca acts as a restorative
and stamina enhancer hence its ability to help us cope with mental and
physical tiredness. One of the best properties of maca is to
increase energy. It is
much used in cases of convalescence, lack of memory, fatigue and
as a general tonic as in weakness cases.
Maca's
nutritional value has been recognized worldwide. For this reason
NASA uses maca within its nutritional programs and also FAO
(Food and Agriculture
Organization) lists it as a
valued food to fight against nutritional problems.
Maca's
nutritional value comes partly from its high protein content and
the quantity of amino acids (18 amino acids, including 7 of 9
essential amino acids), carbohydrates and other compounds as
fatty oils (2 of 3 essentials), minerals and vitamins. Its
therapeutic effects are due to the presence of secondary
metabolites like alkaloids, glucosinolates, sterols, phenolic
compounds and others, that have been analyzed in a series of
studies performed worldwide.
Other traditional
uses include increasing energy levels, stamina and endurance in
athletes, promoting mental clarity, treating male impotence,
helping with menstrual irregularities and female hormonal
imbalances including hot flashes, fatigue, mood swings, and
other pre and post menopausal difficulties. |
|
Because of maca's physically
and
mentally energizing effects it is an ideal supplement for a vast
range of people, from sportsmen/women to students,
professionals, baby-boomers, etc...

|
Native Peruvians
of the Andes Mountains
have used maca since pre-Incan times for both
nutritional and medicinal purposes. It is an important staple in
their diets, as it has the highest nutritional
value of any food crop grown there.
To meet
the growing worldwide demand for maca, its cultivation
is on the rise in the highlands of the Andes. In this
economically depressed region, the market for maca is
creating new and important sources of income for the peoples of
the Andes. |

Velvet bean is an annual
climbing vine with beautiful purple blooms and pods. It is indigenous to
tropical regions, especially Africa, India, and the West Indies. |
 |
VELVET BEAN
Macuna
pruriens
Velvet bean has a long
history of use in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, where it is
used for worms, dysentery, diarrhea, snakebite, sexual
debility, cough, tuberculosis, impotence, rheumatic
disorders, muscular pain, sterility, gout, menstrual
disorders, diabetes, and cancer. In India it is considered
an aphrodisiac, nerve
tonic, diuretic, blood purifier, and to balance hormones.
The traditional use of velvet
beans in India and Brazil as an aphrodisiac, has been
validated by recent clinical studies in India, which found that the plant does
indeed have aphrodisiac properties.
In Brazil macuna pruriens has
also been used internally for Parkinson's disease,
edema, impotence, intestinal gas, and worms. It is
considered a diuretic, nerve tonic, and aphrodisiac.
Externally it is applied to ulcers.
In Central America, velvet beans have
been roasted and ground to make a coffee substitute for
decades. It is known by the common name, "nescafé", in these
regions, as well as in Brazil. It is still
grown as a food crop by the Ketchi indigenous people in
Guatemala, where the bean is cooked as a vegetable.
Macuna pruriens has reported to have anabolic and growth hormone stimulant properties. The anabolic
effect of the seed is due to its ability to increase
testosterone. In 2002, a U.S. patent was filed on the use of
velvet bean to stimulate the release of growth hormone in
humans.

In March 2003, genetic tools developed by MIT and
Malaysian researchers helped identify and preserve the Southeast
Asian tree, Tongkat Ali, which contains a substance that inhibits
viruses and boosts fertility.
Tongkat Ali (Ali's walking
stick) has been a commonly prescribed herbal remedy in
Malaysia for malaria, ulcers, and as an aphrodisiac for men.
In
Indonesia, the plant is called Pasak Bumi and the roots are
used for traditional treatment of dysentery and malaria. Longjack is in the
Superior Class of herbs having powerful and numerous
benefits in the system. Though E. longifolia is currently
mainly known as an aphrodisiac, in South East Asia, all
parts of E. longifolia plants are used
medicinally.
The plant is commonly used throughout
the region as a tonic after childbirth. The bark of the roots is
used in the Malay Peninsula to cure fever, ulcers in the mouth,
and intestinal worms. The Malays also use the paste of the plant
to relieve headache, stomach ache and
many other general pains. In parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan,
the root is used as an anti-pyretic. One of the most
unique uses for E. longifolia is that of the Sakai ethnic
group in Sumatra who use the plant as an amulet to protect
people from the smallpox virus.
Tongkat ali contains over 108 active
properties, including beneficial alkaloids, quassinoids, canthin, eurycomanol, glyco saponins, tannins
and glyco protein.
|
TONGKAT
ALI
|
Root extracts of Tongkat Ali are used widely in Southeast
Asia as a dietary supplement for treating a variety of
ailments.
The
Vietnamese name of the tree indicates that it "cures 1,000
diseases." The extracts have reported aphrodisiac properties and
have been shown to boost fertility in laboratory animals. |

SAW
PALMETTO
Serenoa repens
Saw palmetto was introduced into medicine by J. B. Read of
Savannah, Georgia in an 1879 issue of the American Journal of
Pharmacy. Read wrote, "Considering the great and
diversified power of the saw palmetto as a therapeutic
agent, it seems strange that it should have so long escaped
the notice of the medical profession."
Saw palmetto berries were a staple food
among the Native Americans of the southeastern United States,
who traditionally used them for digestive problems, genitourinary
inflammation, dysentery and lack of libido.
Saw palmetto is a remarkable herb for both men and women and is
used by natural health practitioners to treat a variety of
ailments such as testicular inflammation, urinary tract
inflammation, coughs and respiratory congestion. It is also used
to strengthen the thyroid gland, balance
Clinical trials with saw palmetto show that it decreases symptoms
associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (or BPH), especially
reducing the urge to urinate during the night. Fifty percent of men
over fifty years of age develop some level of BPH. Pressure of the enlarged
prostate on the bladder may cause many of these men to awaken four
or five times a night with an urge to urinate.
|
|
Saw palmetto is the fruit of a small shrub in the palm family native
to the southeastern U.S. and the West Indies. Much saw palmetto fruit is wild-harvested in Florida
and Georgia. |

POTENCY WOOD
Muira
puama
Muira puama,
also called "potency wood," is a small tree that is native to the Brazilian Amazon and other parts of
the Amazon rainforest. The small, white flowers have a sweet pungent
fragrance similar to jasmine's. Historically, all parts of muira puama
have been used medicinally, but the bark and roots are the
most utilized parts of the plant.
Muira puama has long been used in
the Amazon by indigenous peoples for a number of purposes.
Native peoples along the Brazilian Amazon's Rio Negro river
use the stems and roots from young plants as a tonic to
treat neuromuscular problems. A root decoction is used in
baths and massages for treating paralysis and beri-beri.
Another root and bark tea is often used to treat sexual debility,
rheumatism, as well as, cardiac and gastrointestinal
weakness. Potency wood is also valued as a preventive for
baldness.
|

|
In Brazilian herbal medicine, muira puama is
a very highly regarded sexual stimulant with a reputation as a
powerful aphrodisiac. It has been in the Brazilian
Pharmacopoeia since the 1950s. It is used as a
neuromuscular tonic for weakness and paralysis, hormonal
problems, rheumatism, impotency and central nervous system
disorders. |

L-ARGININE
Often referred to as Arginine, L-arginine, is one of the more popular supplements for sexual
dysfunction. It is a
versatile amino acid, which serves as a precursor for the
making of proteins, as well as, nitric oxide, urea, glutamate,
and creatine. It has been used as a supplement for many
years, particularly by athletes and nutrition buffs.
Arginine supports protein synthesis as it is
involved in the transport and storage of nitrogen.
What makes l-arginine interesting is that it can be
metabolized to nitric oxide (NO). NO is the most
powerful chemical known to dilate and engorge blood
vessels.
Over 30,000 research
articles have been published in medical journals since the 1930's (see pubmed for research info).
Some of this research has shown that by supplementing
with as little as 3-6g of arginine every day, the
following benefits are possible:
Recently, Arginine has also been shown to offer benefits to
people with risk factors including: arteriolosclerosis, atherosclerosis,
high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction and many other health
challenges. |
|
PANAX GINSENG
Ginseng has a stimulating on the entire body,
being one of
the most beneficial and popular adaptogenic herbs used in
traditional medicine around the world.

herbs. People in northern China began using ginseng thousands of years
ago.
Ginseng is often given alone or in
combination with other herbs to restore balance in the body. It is one
of the most popular and most prescribed natural remedies for just about
anything. Ginseng has been used to maintain health and
rejuvenate the body
in times of stress. |
|
|
Ginseng is often used to help
strengthen the male reproductive systems. It is thought to be especially
healing on the prostate gland. It is also used as an aphrodisiac. Panax ginseng
is believed to increase male hormone production.
Panax ginseng contains a number of active
constituents including saponins, essential oil, polysaccharides (panaxans
A-U), polypeptides, phytosterol, carbohydrates and sugars, organic
acids, nitrogenous substances, amino acids and peptides, plus vitamins
and minerals. |
