A horse-drawn trolley non-personalized soap drain shaving mug. The trolley is highly detailed with the driver and a boy on the front platform, passengers inside each window, and another on the rear deck. The soap drain compartment could hold half a cake of soap or a brush.
Non-personalized shaving mugs were often sold through general stores or the Sears Roebuck catalog, which had almost anything that you could possibly want. They were often used in rural America where no barbershop was available, and a trip to town was a once-a-week venture, probably to attend church on Sunday. A man had a bath and a shave on Saturday night before the Sunday outing.
The mug is 3 7/8" tall and 3 3/8" wide (4 1/4" with handle), and has no base markings. The scene is bright and highly detailed with no wear. The rims and handle have little to no gold wear. There are no chips, cracks or repairs.
I am cleaning out the mug racks and have other mugs currently listed starting at great starting prices. Thank you for looking.
