THIS PACKAGE IS A VERY EXOTIC SYSTEM FOR A HOUSEBOAT DECK ROOF. THE SOLAR PANELS ARE SANYO TRANSLUCENT PANELS THAT LET ABOUT 15% OF THE LIGHT THROUGH TO THE DECK BELOW. NOT ONLY THAT THESE ARE THE MOST EFFICIENT COMMERCIAL SOLAR PANEL PLUS THEY GET UP TO 30% MORE THAN THEIR RATED POWER FROM REFLECTED LIGHT ON THE BOTTOMSIDE. THIS POWER OUTPUT WAS CONFIRMED BY TESTING AT SANDIA NATIONAL LABORATORIES. THE BATTERIES ARE THE HIGH QUALITY USED AGM BATTERIES THAT ARE TOTALLY SEALED. THE INVERTER IS A 120 VAC PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER WITH BUILT IN TRANSFER SWITCH AND BATTERY CHARGER. THE SOLAR PANELS, INVERTER AND THE CHARGE CONTROLLER ARE NEW. SEE DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS SECTION.
Now you can purchase a super low cost solar power system for your houseboat or ski chalet. This package consists of 1) a used set of 16 (2004 or later manufacture date) C&D Technologies 12-400 sealed AGM batteries (103 ah at 20 hr rate) Industrial AGM Sealed Batteries (read section on how each battery tested to assure quality product) 2) 1140 watts of 6 new Sanyo Hit Double 190 watt Solar panels 3) 1 new SAMLEX SL 2000 24 volt 120 VAC pure since wave inverter 4)1 new Xantrex XW MPPT 60 charge controller 5)1 new 300 Amp DC fuse with holder 6) Trimetric Battery Charge Monitor with shunt. 7) 2 4/0 6' long battery cables and 1 60' MC4 10 awg cable for connecting panels to charge controller and 4 MC4 combiners to connect the strings of 2 panels all together to feed the charge controller. That is all that is being sold in this auction. This system is sized and designed to power a houseboat that is lived in part-time, so the panels can recharge the system while you are gone, for full-time use you will need to connect to shore power when the batteries are discharged. You will need to provide battery interconnect connectors, solar panel mounts (you can mount direct to the roof with aluminum angle iron frame that you make locally), and all wiring for solar panels, inverter and battery bank. Get complete details of each item in following description sections. With this set you should be able to run a part-time solar houseboat. This system will run lights, fans, microwave, computer, LCD TVs, water pump, normal solar houseboat propane appliances, etc. In a normal remote solar home all heating and cooking would be with propane, a refrigerator would be super high efficiency (see my catalog) or would run on propane. When you leave after the extended weekend or week, the power would be turned off and the solar panels would recharge everything during the couple of weeks you are gone. I will include the manual "Photovoltaics Design and Installation Manual", that I sell in my store as part of the shipment.

I want to be your eBay 5 star solar system supplier! If you have a concern, contact me so I can make sure I provide you the service so you can give me a 5 star rating. With a 5 star rating I am able to sell my products on ebay for the best prices! Remember that I only charge $10 more than I actually pay for the truck shipping of the system. Please don't downgrade my rating because of something I don't control.
Battery Pack: These batteries are 10 year design life batteries that have been online about 1/2 of their design life, but the testing on them showed them all to test from 85% to 100% of the new battery numbers. I decided that this package would work fine for a part-time houseboat for many years (assuming you don't over discharge the batteries). Denver has very stable power so the cells were hardly cycled, it shows in their test results. All the batteries test very good with the Midtronics tester (see explaination below) and that is confirmed by their voltage and load meter tests. Note that each battery is tested with that unit prior to shipment. These are the same technology and brand of batteries that I installed in my own off-the-grid home. The solar items and the batteries will be shipped separately due to freight pricing considerations.
This battery back consists of a premium 10 year design life set of sealed AGM batteries made by C&D Technology, their Dynasty product line, they deliver 103 AH each (20 hr rate to 1.75v). This bank can produce 24AH at 24 volts, the voltage required for the inverter. This is a small sized bank that can supply the needs of a houseboat during a couple of cloudy days. These batteries meet the non-hazardous shipping classification of non-spillable. Each battery is 12 volts, produces 400 watts/cell (each battery has 6 2-volt cell, just like your 12 volt car battery) and weighs 76 lb each and you are getting 16 of these batteries. These batteries sell new from discounters for $350 each, so you are getting a total value of over $5600 for the batteries alone. These batteries were tested and all had carried at least 12.70 up to 12.90 volts. They are all were also tested with a Midtronics Celltron Ultra (www.midtronics.com) industrial battery tester (approved IEEE testing method) and all tested in very good condition.
These batteries can be wired in series and parallel to deliver 24 volt power that your inverter requires. That flexibility makes them perfect for these Solar Inverters. These batteries can be connected together using inexpensive copper water pipe that has been cut to the proper length and drilled at proper terminal spacing and has two additional holes for connecting the inverter terminals, that is a cost effective way of making buss bars to interconnect the batteries

Solar Panels: Sanyo is a Japanese solar manufacturing company with North American manufacturing plants that has developed high quality hybrid crystalline/amorphous solar panels that provide the highest efficency of a commercial solar panel. This particular panel is the translucent version that transmitts about 15% of the direct light through the solar panel providing shade and power. With the houseboat on water location you are very likely to produce the extra 30% backside power due to high water reflection. Each panel produce 190 watts from the front side plus up to 30% more from reflected light. They are one of the better choices for hot climates since they maintain high power output even in hot weather much better than pure crystalline panels. That alone provides 10% more power than traditional panel in a hot environment.. The Solar panels are covered by a 20 year, 80% power output warranty and a 5 year manufacturer's material and defects warranty. These panels are well suited for roof mount.
This package consists of 6 of their HIT Double 190 watt solar panels, of course each panel contains a bypass diode. Specification are as follows:
Nominal power output: 190 W up to 247 W if 30% backside output Short Circuit Current (A): 3.73 amps DC to 4.85 adc Open Circuit Voltage (V): 68.7 VDC Max Power Voltage: 55.8 Volts DC Max Power Current: 3.5 Amps DC to 4.45 adc Size: 35.35" x 53.2" x 2.36" with Aluminum frame and backing Weight: 50.7 lbs

Inverter: This is the SAMLEX Invercharge s-2024 true sine wave inverter with built in transfer switch and 40 amp charger. Using the transfer switch you can plug into shore power or run a generator when the batteries get low to partially recharge the bank before heading out again. You power usage and how sunny the days are determine if you will need to recharge the batteries. This unit should run everything in a standard houseboat, if you have larger loads we can upgrade you to a 3024 unit.
Inverters come in two common technologies, Pure Sine Wave and Modified Sine Wave. Pure sine wave is gives you the cleanest power, just like the grid, but modified sine wave works for almost all electronics. So for this package i am recommending a pure sine wave inverter.
2 KW Specifications: See spec sheet attached as a photo above.
Charge Controller and other items: This package includes a new Xantrex XW MPPT60 (maximum power point tracking) charge controller rated 60 amps at 24 volts. This charge controller works for 24 volt battery banks. The units has an LCD display that shows amp and volts for the system, has an included battery temperature sensor and uses MPPT charge control technology. The unit has been setup to run with this system, so just wire it in.
To keep you appraised of the battery condition I am including a Trimetric battery monitor and 500 amp shunt. This package measures volts and amps, but more importantly it records the total number of amps you have used since the last time the system was fully charged. This takes into account power that the panels makes and shore charging you have done. You can just look at the meter and see what percent your battery bank is discharged, great way to assure you only take the batteries down 20% for the longest life.
Also included is a 300 Amp DC fuse to be mounted close to the battery bank connection from the inverter.
I have also included the cables and combiners to connect the solar panels as 3 parallel sets of 2 panels wired in series. Don't worry about this it is all covered in the photovoltaics design and installation book that is included as part of this package
Solar System: This package is a great for solar powered (solar, wind, hydro) part-time houseboat. The batteries are premium quality designs that will provide a long life when used properly. The batteries are very long life batteries (10 year design-life) and designed for power supply usage such as remote homes, computer centers or grid tie solar systems. Your actual power usage will determine what is adequate for your needs, this package is designed as a general package to meet common systems. As with any deep discharge battery the lower the depth of discharge the less total cycles the battery will do, so buy enough batteries and solar panel so that you don't have to deeply discharge the batteries.
The battery charge can be maintained by several different options that can all work together.
1 Solar Panels set up to deliver 24 volts along with a charge controller designed to work with sealed AGM Gel batteries
2 Hydro power, one of the best systems since the power output is continous charging the battery 24/7. Again this requires 24 volt for your system voltage output with a charge controller
3 Wind power, If you have a reliable wind source is works great because of high power output with the proper controller
4 AC Generator or Power Connection, used to power the house in case you are not generating power from solar or wind for a period of time.
These are totally sealed so they may be installed with no outside venting, no storage box, check your local codes to determine if that is allowed in your area.
Solar Energy Rebates: This system can be part of a solar energy system the could qualify for both state and federal renewable energy rebates. Please get more information here http://www.seia.org/manualdownload.php , CHECK WITH YOUR STATE, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS FOR A STANDALONE SYSTEM, SOME STATES PAY FOR SYSTEMS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE GRID!!!!
Battery Testing: All batteries are tested for voltage and load before shipment to assure we are shipping a quality product. Before being shipped, batteries are tested with a Midtronics Celltron Ultra Stationary Battery Tester (www.midtronics.com). This unit is a $6000 professional battery tester designed to test 2v-16v industrial batteries sized from 20 AH to 4000 AH. It was designed to test batteries that are still part of an active battery bank (it also tests disconnected batteries, that is the easy test). It measures the conductance of the individual cells (2 volt cells) or the entire battery and compares those measured conductances with a database of batteries that have measurements for. For other batteries that are not in the database, testing of a large group of the same batteries is used to develop a good cell number. If batteries test from 90-100% of the reference number they are considered in excellent condition. If the batteries are no longer online, then the battery is considered good from 70 to 80% of the reference number, batteries are considered very good if they read higher than 80% of the reference number. For batteries that are 60% or below, the are considered at risk and should be replaced.
The batteries in this listing test very good and all are 85% or higher. That is the best test method available in the battery industry and midtronics is considered the leading battery tester.
How Much Power: Since I have no idea of your actual power usage, this package is designed to meet general part-time houseboat usage guidelines, your actual solar access, usage and power requirements may require a slightly modified package. I will happly provide a custom package once you have determined your power requirements throughout an average day (the worksheets in my catalog [for sale in my ebay store] will provide all the information need for me to make better sizing estimates). The more batteries you have in your system the less the depth of discharge and the longer the battery life. In my own cabin, I had l-16 batteries (these were 5 year warranty life) that are 15 years old and they were still going strong, but I only take them down to 20% DOD, so it has paid me many times over to have installed additional batteries at the start. In November I finally took the L16s offline and added 32 of this technology used batteries to my own cabin along with a new charge controller with built in meter. These are such a great system that I am using them on my own cabin. My bank of batteries supplies power for electric lights, propane forced air furnace (80,000 btu), microwave, deep well 220 volt water pump, stereo, computer, compressor (in my garage) and fans.
Payment: I accept all standard forms of payment. If using Paypal payment I will only ship to the delivery address specified in the ship to section of the Paypal payment notification. If not shipping to your confirmed address, I may require additional identity confirmation information. If I don't receive payment in a timely manner I will provide negative feedback. International buyers can pay by normal electronic means or paypal if paypal supports seller protection for buyers from your country and a US seller (Currently 109 countries are supported).
Shipping: NOTE I only charge $10 above my actual shipping cost for the items I ship, that is to cover the cost of the pallet. Please don't give me a bad rating for things I can't control like shipping costs. I can ship this Solar package and batteries worldwide, quite often international ocean shipping is cheaper than US domestic shipping, check to see. These batteries are sealed nonspillable, nonhazardous, and the solar equipment is palletized so they can be easily shipped via truck, airplane, or ship. The battery sets that you purchase are palletized in groups of 16 or 32. This makes it easy for them to be sent by truck to your location, that is why I list freight as the shipping method. Since the batteries and solar equipment is shipped separately, the shipping calculator will provide only approximate prices. If you are serious email me with your zipcode or international delivery port. If you can have it delivered to a business with a loading dock or you hand unload it at your house from the back of the truck, it will generally save you $100-200 in delivery costs. Local pickup in denver is free for the batteries, but some shipping costs will be added for the solar equipment.
Note to Buyers: If you have more than one negative feedback and a low positive feedback number (<90%) don't bid without my approval, or I reserve the right to cancel your bid.
THANK YOU FOR BIDDING solarenergyquest@me.com for questions
