When they are brought out of hypnosis, they are now tense and uncomfortable, even though in reality they’ve never really committed this crime/act. The experimenter (who is never shown/seen, only heard) leads them through several tests (including the ink blot, & word association). This movie provides an interesting look into how our actions / motivations are prompted & guided by deeper forces & suggestive techniques during our "unconscious" state, as well as the use of dreams and inkblots to further reach these dynamics & levels.
