IC, ILLINOIS CENTRAL RAILROAD PUBLIC TIMETABLE 1964
This passenger timetable dated April 26, 1964 measures 4 by 9 inches and contains 24 numbered
pages. The inside cover promotes "better equipment to serve our patrons" and has an illustration
of a an assortment of fright cars. Page 2 and 3 contains an index to passenger stations. Page 4 5
and 6 have condensed schedules and a list of equipment (passenger cars). Page 7 has general
information and reference notes. Pages 8 through 10 contains the schedules for Chicago,
Memphis & New Orleans, St. Louis, Memphis Jackson & New Orleans and Chicago, St. Louis
and Birmingham all Florida service. Page 11 has a map of south America and list steamship and
airlines connections. In the center of the timetable is the system map, very detailed and radically
different form the ICG and the CN route of today. Page 14 has an interesting map titled Illinois
Central and connecting lines. Shows Alabama, George and Florida and the different rail lines
and towns the City of Miami and Seminole traveled through. Page 15 has schedules for Chicago,
Waterloo & Sioux City - Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Meridian-Vicksburg-Shreveport and
Chicago-Indianapolis-Cincinnati. Page 16 has the connecting bus schedules. Pages 17, 18 and
19 stations served by freight service only and pages 20 & 21 lists the rail fares and sleeping car
rates. Page 22 lists "condensed dispatch freight schedules", very rarely seen in passenger timetables.
The remainder of the timetable list directors and representatives. Timetable shows some edge and
cover wear and some pencil marks on the cover. All is ok on the inside with the exception of
some staple rust.
