This cover commemorated the commissioning of the USS KEARNY DD-432, which was torpedoed while on convoy duty on October 17, 1941, off Iceland, by the German submarine U-568. Note the October 16, 1940, postmark and the date of the torpedo attack: one year and one day apart...a cruel bit of irony. The cover iis in nice condition, showing no tears or creases, though some light soiling is present. Buyer pays $1.00 postage/handling. Georgia residents add 6% sales tax.
