Here is an amazing old Dresden Plate quilt from the 1920s, possibly earlier. This is a beautifully made piece, with incredible amounts of hand stitching, and a wonderful ice cream cone border. It has never been used or washed, and you can still see the hand drawn pattern outlines. The fabrics are gorgeous, and the quilting elaborate. Altogether a magnificent antique quilt!

It measures approximately 78 x 94 inches. Stitches are about 7-8 per inch. The quilt is not overly thick, but is still substantial, weighing over 4 lbs. It has some storage stains/age marks (I've pictured the worst), but no holes, weak spots or anything of that sort. It is a sturdy piece, with nice colors that have mellowed with age. Looks marvelous!

The family name has been hand sewn to the back, as well as a long sleeve along one edge of the quilt. Likely the sleeve was put there so the quilt could be displayed at a long-ago fair (a wooden dowel would have been run through it, and then the whole thing hung on a wall).

Some of my pictures were taken in the morning, and some were taken with evening light, which explains the variation in the pictures. And while not exact, the colors are close to how it looks in real life.

This is so lovely in person - better than pictures can show! It will make a fantastic bed cover or wall-hanging...
