RUBY 14 KT GOLD-FILL & VERMEIL NECKLACE
One of my many precious memories of living in India is the beauty of the jewelry worn by Indian women, usually in gold filigree set with precious stones. Rubies are the national gemstone of India, said to represent enduring love and wealth, and in their purest state are so expensive that most of us cannot afford them. These are very affordable rubies, in faceted sparkling briolettes and rondelles. In gemstone folklore, rubies represent enduring love (especially wedded love) and erotic passion.
The center pendant is curved sterling vermeil, accented on the sides with 4mm. faceted rondelle beads of genuine rubies, strung on 14kt. gold-fill wires. The faceted ruby briolette measures 8-9mm. and has a gorgeous pearly sheen that can only be appreciated in person. It is a deep scarlet opaque red, with some tiny black inclusions. They hang from 14kt. gold-fill Figaro chain.
The necklace measures 17" and closes with a gold-fill lobster clasp. I can add a small extension chain if you need it longer.

This would retail in a good Museum or historical jewelry catalogue for about $250.
14kt. gold-fill is a durable metal with an overlay of 14 kt. permanently brazed onto the surface, and vermeil is .925 sterling silver with a heavy permanent 22kt. gold overlay. Both gold-fill and vermeil will retain their luster indefinitely, and never tarnish like gold plate. They are used in most Museum reproductions of historical jewelry.
All metals used are 14kt. gold-filled or sterling vermeil, as described, and all rubies are genuine.

PLEASE NOTE: The shipping charges include postage, insurance, delivery confirmation and packing materials. The postage charge you see on the mailer is only PART of the shipping charge! The insurance is by third-party coverage so you will not see a USPS insurance sticker on the package, but it is insured.

Payment must be received no later than 7 days from date of sale, or the item will be relisted and a claim filed with EBay.
