How Does Saline Chlorination work?
(1) Salt: Pure, non-iodized, salt (normally in 20~25 lb bags) is initially added to the pool water to develop a concentration of 0.3% (3000 ppm). This concentration is about the same(or less) as in human tears, and is therefore very gentle to the swimmers eyes, skin and other body parts. With the Intex's Saltwater System, inexpensive, all-natural salt was added directly to the pool water according to the capacity of the pool, and the system will do the rest when you run the filter pump ....

(2) Electrolysis Process: As the saline(salted) water passes the chlorinator cell, liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) is produced when an low voltage electrical DC current is applied to the metal plates inside the cell. The liquid chlorine, immediately mixed with the water leaving the chlorinator cell, and flow directly into the swimming pool. Hydrogen gas, is produced during this process, and then harmlessly dissipated into the atmosphere when the water flow back into the pool. There is no waste product produced during this process.

(3) Sanitizing effect: This continuous introduction of liquid chlorine will ensure the continuous sanitization of the pool water, and does not allow for the growth of algae. When the liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) has destroyed the bacteria in the pool, it reverts to salt (sodium chloride) once again. 

Isn't salt water corrosive?
It can be, but water with a salt concentration of less than 3,000 ppm is hardly corrosive, and should has no damaging effects. That is a great advantage over the chlorine "tablets" or "powder" that can indeed damage the surface of pool. Mildly salted water does not affect the PVC plumbing, filters or pumps.

How safe is saline chlorination?
There is no by-product produced during the process other than 100% pure chlorine and a small amount of harmless "hydrogen gas". Compared with the the less effective tri-chlor and calcium hyprochlorite used in the "chlorine tablets", saline chlorination is a much safer sanitation method. Plus, no more storing of volatile chemicals and needs of periodic "shocking" of the pool water.

Does the Intex Saltwater System required regular maintenance?
No, just add specified amount of salt directly into the pool water at the beginning of the season. The Self-Cleaning Titanium-Coated Electrolytic Cells do not required any periodic maintenance.

What type, or capacity of a pool is this Intex Saltwater System designed for?
The Intex Saltwater System is specially designed for the Intex brand Easy Set & Frame Set above ground pools, and other similar type of pools. However, depends on the flow rate of your pool pump, the system MAY works with other pool system with capacity up to 20,000 gallons. ( Modification to your existing filtering system may required, and buyer is solely responsible for the cost & modification to your existing pool system, and the compatibility of the Intex Saltwater System to your existing pool equipments )

Will the Intex Saltwater System works with other above-ground or in-ground pools?
Although the Intex Saltwater System is specially designed to work with above-ground pools, such as the Intex brand/type, and/or other similar type of pools, it MIGHT also works with other types of above-ground or in-ground pools. ( Modification to your existing filtering system may required, and buyer is solely responsible for the compatibility of the Intex Saltwater System to your existing pool equipments )
