The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a stunning 1915 World War I recruitment poster for the Irish Brigades of the British army. The poster will make a great gift for any person of Irish descent. Some of the most powerful Irish symbols are the focus of the poster including an Irish bagpiper wearing a kilt, an Irish wolfhound and the Erin Go Bragh (Braugh) flag among others. DESCRIPTION: A rich image focuses on an Irish Bagpiper, wearing a kilt, with his faithful Irish wolfhound looking at him. In the background are infantry and cavalry marching with an Erin Go Bragh flag leading the way. A beautiful orange-gold sunrise completes this poignant image. HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: World War I came as "the troubles" were happening in Ireland. The British Army was attempting to recruit Irishmen for their army. Because many Irish had emigrated to Canada, the United States and other countries, a similar recruitment effort happened in those countries. Many in Ireland opposed supporting the British Army. However, tens of thousands of men answered the call and served valiantly in the war effort. This poster was part of the recruitment effort in Ireland and every country where Irish had emigrated. HEADLINE: The Call to Arms. CAPTION: Irishmen, Don't you hear it? ARTIST: The artist is not known. ORIGINAL MEDIA: David Allen & Sons Ltd., 40 Gt. Brunswick St., Dublin did the original chromolithograph on which this print is based. ![]() PAPER QUALITY: This new print is on a highest quality, acid-free, 100-pound glossy premium text paper that allows for maximum color brilliance and fidelity for older images.
