ISRAEL- POSTAL HISTORY - Air Transport History, Flown Cover
On April 27 1948 flights to the new Independent state of Israel are suspended because of the turmoil caused by the transition from the British Palestine Mandate.
A new organization "PEDI" (Palestine Emergency Deliveries Inc.) was formed to deliver cargo and mail to Israel
This lasted to July 1948
It was sent to Rome and then to Israel via Czechoslovakian Airlines
The Postage for a simple letter was 25 Cents.
This particular cover is franked with the right postage and ,mailed from Brooklyn to Tell Aviv.
It has the Registered # 16134 and the Special Hand applied Postmark/ Cancellation
"PALESTINE EMERGENCY......CANCELLED" and the Date.
***The month is clearly visible and it is "JUN"
***The date and year are very weak and can not be read read easily (maybe only by special means ??)
However, this is within the correct period of this short lived special Air Transport Service.
A Very Scarce and hard to get Item in Very Good Condition,
(*** the backflap is torn due to original opening of the letter)

Domestic and Foreign Mailings with a total over $ 50.00 are sent via Insured or Registered Mail and the fee is in addition to the postage costs and according to the value of the shipment. The costs range is from $1.75 to $11.50. If you like to decline the Registered Mail and have the shipment sent to you by International Regular Mail , please email me and request it with a note that you understand that the shipment will NOT be insured and that you take total responsibility if it gets lost, stolen or damaged in the mails. I will then send you a revised invoice.
For foreign transaction, Customs form will be correctly filled with the total value of the shipment as required by law.
MY FEEDBACKS are entered AFTER the TOTAL transaction is COMPLETED. If you leave the feedback after you receive the lot, one will be left for you Immediately. If you do not leave one I will assume everything is OK and will leave one for you .This may take 2 to 3 weeks. If you disagree with this policy please send me a note with you payment and I will leave you a FEEDBACK as soon as the Payment Clears. I have no problem with that.
