ITALIAN Spongeware SALT & PEPPER SHAKERS Women HAND PAINTED

Up for your consideration is this vintage Italian Salt and Pepper Shaker set. Each Shaker is quite large, and looks like a cylinder sitting on top of a cone, decorated so that each appears to be the figure of a Woman. Each is hand decorated with Black outline Arms and Hands drawn on top of bright vibrant colors with Floral, Spongeware, and Geometric elements.

The Shakers are made from Ceramic, and each weighs over 1 pound. They stand 7-5/8 inches high, which is about the size of 1-1/2 pop cans stacked on end. Both are marked ITALY on the underside of their bases, but we have been unable to determine the manufacturer or their age, although they have a 1970's look.

Neither Shaker shows much in the way of wear. One has some slight loss of Black paint on the top. With a bit of minor cleaning, both could pass as new, and each has a great shine with no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. We rate their condition as very good to excellent (see pictures above).

This is a delightful and charming Salt and Pepper set. They would look wonderful on any dining table and would certainly add some visual pizzazz to any setting. They would make fantastic gifts for the upcoming Holidays, or be a fabulous addition to any Kitchen collection!
