Arabic and Ottoman Turkish Manuscript. A manuscript of Prayers mainly in Arabic with a few pages in Ottoman Turkish. Number of leaves: 68; size: 9.2 x 11.4 cm; 9 lines per page; in clear, beautiful, and elegant naskhī script in black ink with some headings in orange, on yellowish paper. All pages are ruled in several lines of black and gold and all sentences are separated in small orange discs. The opening two pages contain handsome illumination in gold and colors. There are tables in gold for al-asma’ al-husna (the most beautiful names [of God]). A few other pages are also illuminated, one of them represent Dhu al-Fiqar (Ali’s sword with two prongs), which is often used as a symbol of empowering. Undated, but most likely from the early nineteenth century. Original cloth, minor smudges and foxing, otherwise a very nice manuscript. [code:P02]
