INDIAN CURRY PLANT LEAF / HERBThe Real Indian Curry Plant for Making your own Curries
INDIAN CURRY PLANT MURRAYA KOENIGII These are growing in a 4" x 4" x 9 1/2" Tree Pots, planted from seed last year. This curry plant will grow in this type of tree pot for another year or so, or plant in a bigger deeper pot, and by deeper your best bet for patio planting is get a pot that is over 24" deep, 36" deep is a better prefered depth. I've dug Curry Plants growing in other peoples landscapes and they have a deep root system of approx. 20-24" and the roots are sparse at that depth. So plant it some-where were it will be a permanent planting. Curry is almost pest resistance, just squeeze the leaf and you will figure out why. During the growing season when it has
leaves, keep it well fed with a complete balanced fertilizer, each month, and modertally moist.
We, have been growing these for the Asian / Indian Community in San Antonio, and South TX for the last 4 years.
Use the leaves fresh from the tree in all of your curry reciepes, the leaves are very potent with oils, so a few go a long way.
We, use a soil-less potting mix for all of our plants, which we add Composted Hardwood Mulch to insure a good ratio of oxygen to the root-zone. This is a Sub-Tropical plant that has been climatized to most of Zone 8 and above. The tree has a deep root system.
