Up for bid is a circa 1890 J.E. Stevens Cast Iron Mechanical Bank - BAD ACCIDENT.

Designed by Charles Baily, manufactured by J & E Stevens Co., of Cromwell CT. A coin is placed between the drivers shoes. The lever is pressed causing the young boy to dart from behind the plant and face the front. The donkey rears back and causes the coin to be deposited. The cart driver holds a watermelon.

Doubles as a great piece of Black Americana.

Condition

Excellent Condition. Some paint loss. No breaks or cracks.
