This beautiful gravy boat, or relish dish with attached underplate, was manufactured by the Josef Kuba Porcelain Factory & Decorating Shop, probably in the late 1940's or early 1950's.

The gravy boat stands 4 1/4" tall at the highest point. It measures 9" long and 3 3/4" wide (without the handles). The underplate measures 9 1/2" by 5 1/2" wide.

This decorating company, based in West Germany, used porcelain "blanks" from high quality factories, and decorated them in their shop. They used their mark on the bottom to cover up the manufacturer of the porcelain.

This transfer design of courting couples is known as "Love Story".  It is taken from paintings by the French artist  Jean-Honore Fragonard.

The condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. There is just one spot of wear to the gold on the rim (shown in photo).

Marked on the bottom, "J. K. W. Decor, Carlsbad", "Made in Western Germany". There is also a blue overglaze beehive mark.

• I usually offer a choice of Priority (fastest), Parcel Post (good for heavy packages), or First Class for packages under 13 ounces. Please understand that Parcel Post is Ground Shipping, and it will take longer.
