JACQUELINE KENNEDY SIGNED WHITE HOUSE PHOTO WITH CAROLINE AND JOHN JR
As November 22 approaches, those of us with memories of a time now long ago - and the promise of what might have been - are full of emotion deep inside - emotion that is hard to explain to those who do not remember that day and that time when it all changed. Rather than remember that day and the sadness that followed for a nation and a world. I'm sure John Kennedy would have much preferred to have his life remembered rather than his murder - the times when a very young family resided in the White House and much of a nation was captivated with the beautiful First Lady and the children to whom she and the President were deeply devoted.
Offered here is a classic relic of that place and time - a personally signed photograph taken in the White House in 1962 of the 33 year old First Lady of the United States, 5 year old Caroline and 2 year old John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Jr. Signed boldly in pen by Jacqueline Kennedy
Measuring 8" x 10" with a marvelous 'With best wishes, Jacqueline Kennedy' in dark, unfazed ink, it is framed to total museum conservation standards and is ready for immediate display. This is not the pre-printed/facsimile "signature" that is widely seen on this and the other White House photographs of the Kennedys. They were produced by the 10's of thousands to be sent out by the White House when someone wrote a letter to the President and Mrs. Kennedy or their children, sometimes asking for an autograph. Unfortunately there are many collectors who have paid allot of money to purchase one and have it hanging up on a wall right now believing it was hand signed by the First Lady in 1962 when in reality it was signed by no one.
Jacqueline Kennedy personally hand signed the photograph that is offered in this auction - that is one guarantee with NO time limit.
With the abrupt and deeply painful end of that short moment in time coming on that dark day in November - now 46 years ago, a personal memento such as this has an impact upon the heart. With Jacqueline Kennedy and John Junior now gone to the pages of history - and with the 50th anniversary of that day in Dallas approaching in just a few short years - one can anticipate that this piece will only increase in scarcity, value - and in the power it has to take one back to when life was very different. This signed photograph symbolizes the vibrancy and uniqueness of John Kennedy's short days in office - and shows us some of the magic that when we take time to reflect still resonates through the decades.
I have been getting quite a few messages about shipping overseas. I am very sorry; I feel I cannot ship outside the US at this time. Four of the last six packages sent were lost or stolen. I am supposed to be preserving and protecting history. With my best regards, Harry McCormick
