Japan is fast rebuilding:h: her cities, her industry and indeed her life herself are changing their appearances literally day by day" The author author expresses his deepest thanks to the occupation and Japanese agencies for making some of the never to be had photos available for this book" It also contains fold out maps of the area. for one interested in the history and development of Modern Japan, this is a must. A very important source of information of Japan as she started to rebuild after the devastation of WWII. This is a source of history that is not in your school books. In the past 50 years Japan has gone from a Secret not well know to the rest of the world, to a definite world Power. That is a lot of growth in such a short time. The information in this book is invaluable and the book it'self a treasure beyond discription. Please look at this and the other treasures listed in this catagory as the treasures they are. If one thinks back to the time of there issue you must see the wonders of the country that was not becoming familiar to the world. The mysteries that Japan held and still does were not well know. As our government worked with the people of Japan on the reconstruction and building of Japan something very special happened. As my dad was so well aware of how the people of Japan and himself as well as so many others who were fortunate to be a part of this great association, was a gift that only a few would ever experience. Until the time of his death he talked with the fondest of memories of the people he met and worked with when he was working in Japan. For many years after he returned home ( he was there three times for extended periods) different people whom he knew came to this country and always contacted him. I remember, so very well the many occasions when gentlemen from Japan were our guests for dinner and the evening, in our home. I remember well the time that my mother was sequestered on jury duty and I had to serve as my fathers hostess when two of these gentlemen came for dinner (we went out that time as I was a bit young to prepare a "company" dinner. My top speed at that was was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The young men that my father worked with while he was there went on to become the back bone of the modern Japan. While it was difficult for my father to leave my Mother and I for long periods of time he gladly served our country (non military) to the very best of his ability and in so doing, created memories that would last far beyond his own lifetime. Now many of those memories live in me and hopefully I have managed to pass some on to my own children. These items will not have drastic reductions as I will keep them for my own enjoyment or find another way to get them into the hands of those who will love and enjoy them. This is the first that they have been offered and there is much more to come, much of which is waiting to be valued. THIS 57 YEAR OLD TREASURE IS BEING REDUCED FOR THE FINAL TIME IN THIS FORMAT. 4/29.07 MAY BE REMOVED IN 30 DAYS    THIS BEAUTIFUL TREASURE WILL FIND A GOOD HOME WHERE IT WILL BE ENJOYED AND TREASURED, AS IT HAS BEEN FOR THE 50+ YEARS THAT IT HAS BELONGED TO MY FAMILY  FAR BELOW VALUE
