Hand made in Gifu Japan in the traditional way. It is crafted from the finest Japanese Hinoki Wood and will last many years. Made completely in the traditional way, these high quality 'sekken-dai' or Japanese soap dishes are hand-made for us in Gifu Prefecture, famous for its fine Hinoki and Sawara Cypress wood. Most of the finest bath accessories come from this part of Japan. Hinoki and Sawara Cypress are waterproof and resistant to rot and give off the most wonderful fragrance when wet. The oils in the sap are said to be excellent for the skin. Traditionally, this wood was used to make the bath tub itself but these are considered an extravagant luxury now as they are extremely expensive. These solid wooden soap dishes are of the exact same type used at many fine Hot Spring 'Onsen' resorts all over Japan. Beautifully made by expert craftsmen, they will last for many years...

This item measures: 22.5cm long X 16.5cm wide X 7cm high (9"long X 6½" wide X 2¾"high). They are precisely fitted and beautifully made to bring the essence of the Japanese Bath into your home.

2) STANDARD AIRMAIL is the lower one is and is fine for most inexpensive items to countries with TRUSTWORTHY postal systems but as it does NOT include TRACKING, we have NO WAY of locating the item's whereabouts or of influencing the post office to deliver it once it leaves Japan. The usual delivery time is about 10 days to 2 weeks but it has been known to take up to 6 weeks - especially to Spain. Selecting this option means that you understand that it's safe, speedy delivery is at YOUR risk. We recommend EMS!

Some items are cheaper when shipped together - If you wish us to calculate the exact rate, just hit: REQUEST TOTAL and we will make the invoice for you. We ship in large batches and pick-up is arranged with the Post Office about twice a week. Your item goes in the first shipment after it is in stock, packed and ready to go. This is usually VERY FAST, however large, multiple item orders can take longer to prepare.

If you have a DEADLINE, please contact us PRIOR TO PURCHASING the item to ask if it is possible. EMS Service is a POSTAL service - not a SELLER Service, meaning that it will speed up TRANSIT TIME but not necessarily the DEPARTURE DATE.
