John Deere 301A, 2 wheel drive tractor loader with power steering and a full hydraulic reverser transmission. This gas engine (about 45 hp) tractor, starts, runs, moves, works, and stops great! The tractor has a 3 point hitch and a pto. The pto is not working, and someone must have had a problem with it, as they removed some parts and put a plate over where the pto shaft comes out the back of the tractor. It is most likely fixable if you needed to use it, but the cost can only be determined once it's disassembled. The tractor is a great loader tractor as it is, and includes an excellent 6' Howse boxblade (scarifier shanks for the boxblade are missing but could be replaced if needed. The hourmeter and tach are broken so the hours are unknown. The tractor was fleet serviced, and oils, etc look to have been kept up with regularly. The serial number is 42,XXX which makes it a late 60's and may mean it is a 300, not a 301A, but I am not exactly sure, my serial number book is confusing and the tractor has 301A decals? There are 2 sets of rear auxillary hydraulics for implements. There is a rollbar, and a new seat. The tractor is tight and dry,no leaks, but the steering does have some play at the cast junction knuckle, quite common, it steers well enough for daily use as it is. The tractor has double rear wheel weights. The rear tires are excellent, about 80% tread remaining and not dry or cut up. The front tires are about 40% tread remaining. The loader frame and front bucket have some welding and plating, but look strong and work great. This is a nice low dollar tractor for around the farm or for projects. We have kept it here as a backup tractor to load things with for about a year. We recently bought a newer forklift for the yard and so it is for sale. It runs beautifully, and the reverser trans is smooth and tight, making it easy to go forward and reverse for loader use, unlike a direct drive where you are fighting to get it in gear!
