American Furniture Queen Anne and Chippendale Periods in the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum. Joseph Downs is the author with a foreward by Henry Francis du Pont. The Macmillan Company, New York, 1952. First Printing, so stated. The book is in very good condition with some wear and bumps to the corner, and shelf wear. The book is tight, and the covers are bright. The dust jacket is in good condition with chipped corners, and loss. The dust jacket is protected in a Brodart archival cover.

Joseph Downs, from innumerable pieces of the Queen Anne and Chippendale Periods displayed at Winterthur, has selected over 400 examples which with few  exceptions were never before seen either in private or public view or for reproduction illustrations. The book has 10 color plates, and 401 black and white pictures. This book is considered the standard text on the subject with excellent  photography and examples of labels and inscriptions at the rear. A must for the student, collector, or future historian.
