I am so sad to announce the passing of the tattoo legend, JACK ARMSTRONG.  He went to the happy tattoo shop in the sky on October 29th, 2007 after many many years of tattooing and speaking and autographing for his thousands of fans all over the world!  Those of us who knew him personally will never be the same for knowing this amazing man.  And those who never got the honor of meeting him will never forget him either.  He has been around the world of tattooing since 1928!  WE LOVE YOU JACK!

This is an 8x10 unframed, unmatted, signed photographic print of "JACK ARMSTRONG, TATTOO LEGEND" by myself..."Patti Jo".  The original is a 11x14 pencil drawing on paper.  Jack was my mentor and partner and I was his official artist. 

I tattooed 17 portraits on his back after over 50 years of not letting anyone tattoo on him!  First I did a portrait of himself from a pencil portrait that I drew of him the day I met him in 1993.  I did it at the Hollywood Inkslingers Ball and took "BEST TATTOO OF THE DAY" for Saturday in 1997.  After winning that award, Jack got all hyped up to get more....so we spent then next 5 months doing the other 16!  They were: finsihing the portrait of JESUS in the middle of his back, that someone else had started 50 some years earlier and Jack made the guy stop because it was hurting him so badly.  Then we did the 15 "PROPHETS OF THE LORD" of the CHURCH OF LATTER DAY SAINTS all around JESUS!  Some days we did two portraits at a time and Jack slept through nearly all of them!

We won "BEST TATTOOED SENIOR" , both PEOPLE'S CHOICE and ARTIST'S CHOICE!at the NATIONAL TATTOO CONVENTIO in Los Angeles in 1998.

These prints are an open edition and signed by myself...Patti Jo...the artist.
