Please see over 300 similar items in my eBay Store, Vintage Motorphoto. This is a VINTAGE ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHIC (real photo) postcard of Jacques Salleron on his Mors at the start during the 1903 Paris to Madrid Race. As you probably realize, this was the last town to town race ever held in France because of the many accidents and deaths caused by dust and unruly spectators. Real photo postcards like this were how people gathered mementos of large events before the camera became a household item. These could have been printed and sold during the race itself! I am listing several of these from this event, all postally unused and in perfect condition. This photograph is approximately 105 years old. The photo is over-matted with archival mat board, (this is worth about $25 in the average frame shop) the overall mat size is 11 X 14 inches and is ready for framing. The photo is in a clear mylar resealable envelope for protection. This photo is in excellent condition. The photo is held in the mat by corners only and can easily be removed if you wish. The definition of a "VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH" is a photo that was printed from the original negative at or about the time the photo was originally taken. A MODERN PHOTOGRAPH is one that has been recently printed from an original negative, I do not sell any digital photos. I do not own nor do I sell any copyrights to these photos. In most all cases I have only one each of these photos and when it is sold I will not have another. You can see many more vintage racing photos such as I have in my EBay store at my VINTAGE MOTORPHOTO booth at Historic Auto Races at Seattle and Portland, Automobilia Monterey and the Concorso Italiano in Monterey. Please remember I buy individual photos or whole collections.
