Portulacaria afra, a.k.a. Dwarf Jade, Baby Jade, Elephant Bush (not to be confused with "regular jade", Portulacaria afra grows much faster with smaller leaves and more interesting growth habits) 13 This plant is the perfect addition to any collection! Interesting branching and trunk line, about 7" tall. Perfect for a gift or to keep for yourself! Easy, low maintenance plant. Bring a piece of nature into your life! Plant shipped bareroot, simply pot into any 4-6" pot upon arrival. You will receive the plant in the picture. Any questions/comments/concerns, please email me! Happy bidding! ***************************************************************************** Please note that any white spots on the leaves are simply water deposits, I use well water to water my plants. The spots wipe off easily if they are bothersome. About the Species: These are very low maintenance plants, and only require above freezing temperatures/ lots of light/ and a little bit of water. The more you fertilize and water them, the bigger they get! They do best outside, although a bright window or supplimented light will do indoors and they'll help brighten up any house. This plant grows quickly and is very hardy. Several of mine have survived being "trimmed" by goats, knocked off their stands by wind, dug up by squirrels, forgotten to water for several weeks, and cracked pots. I've even had the experience where a box of cuttings wasn't planted for several days after receipt and *every* one of the cuttings is alive and well. If you don't think you have a green thumb, try one of these... If you live in a state where it freezes in the winter, you'll need to bring these guys inside or put them in a green house that stays above freezing. Insects, pests, and diseases they rarely have.... intolerance to being frozen they do. Like all succulents, they don't require large amounts of water-great for areas under water restrictions or when you just don't have time to water constantly. I personally water mine several times a week only because I want them to grow quickly. I have a group of these in the corner that only gets the occasional rain and is doing fine. I feed once a month with a water soluable fertilizer to keep them nice and green. Shipping: Plants are shipped bare root to save on shipping and eliminate any freeloaders. Bareroot means all of the soil is gently washed off before being delicately packed and shipped. Portulacaria have no problems with their roots being exposed for short periods of time- These guys are tough! If you live an area that is freezing, or where the plant will have to pass through freezing temperatures on its way to you, I am happy to hold the plant until the weather changes. Freezing is the quickest way to kill a Portulacaria. *Item will be shipped out on the Monday after auction end so it does not sit in a post office over the weekend.* |
