A typical James Brown live show, cut in Atlanta apparently (given the song list) some time in the late '70s. Brown and his partners in funk are in typically good form here, setting up monster grooves in songs like "Too Funky in Here" and "Get Up Offa That Thing." And older R&B hits like "It's a Man's Mans' Man's Man's World" and "I Feel Good" are rendered without the somewhat rote quality they took on in Brown's '90s performances; he seems, in fact, to be enjoying things throughout the set. Fly in the ointment: indifferent mono sound.
