In "A Very Small Dog", Jamie Wyeth plays a trick on the viewer by first drawing attention to the elaborately-rendered wicker of the carriage. Closer inspection reveals the snarling mouth of the dog, whose high-pitched barks seem almost audible. Although the artist usually paints from life, the small dog in this painting never really existed. (audio) Jamie Wyeth enjoys the challenge of painting wicker, and several of his works feature its interwoven lines. Here, the appealing curves and patterns of the wicker draw us in, only to lead us to the unpleasant sight in the center of the carriage: an angry, barking dog. Other than his own Jack Russell terriers, Wyeth is not overly fond of small dogs. He uses a touch of humor to express his opinion in this work. This is a signed authentic reproduction print of the original oil on canvas, which was originally completed by the famous artist back in 1980. The original oil on canvas which is 50X40, was a gift from Bank Of America in 2003 to the Brandywine River Museum, which is were there are several original works of art by the Wyeth family. This was the reproduction print that was used in the Pennsylvania Academy Of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA, for an art exibition, made possible by a grant from the Sun Co. This original signed print by Jamie Wyeth "A Very Smal Dog" was printed by the museum press inc., Washington, D.C. This piece just speaks class & is very detail oriented, Jamie Wyeth's signature on the print is signed in pen. This work of art is ready to be framed & matted, & would look stunning in any home or business. The print is in pristine condition, & if in the local area I will hand deliver, if not I will offer free shipping & send in a secure art shipping tube. This fabulous work of art would make the perfect gift for the true Wyeth fan who deeply apprecites all Wyeth works of art. Jamie Wyeth continues to always present us with the talent that the Wyeth family is known for. God Bless Andrew Wyeth his legend lives on through his work. |
