Jane Asher autographed book This item is a Jane Asher autographed book, signed "Love Jane Asher x" in blue ink. This is a signed First Edition copy of the book Good Living At Christmas with Jane Asher, which was published by BBC Books in 1998. The signature is a 100% genuine autograph (unlike most of the so-called "signed" items on eBay). A unique and collectable piece of Jane Asher/Beatles related memorabilia. Book is in VG Condition - No Reserve. Jane Asher was born on 5th April 1946 and found fame as an actress. In 1963, Jane interviewed The Beatles and subsequently commenced a five-year relationship with Paul McCartney, getting engaged to him in 1967. She inspired many of McCartney's finest songs, such as 'All My Loving', 'And I Love Her', 'I'm Looking Through You', 'You Won't See Me', 'We Can Work It Out', 'Here, There And Everywhere' and 'For No One'. John Lennon and Paul McCartney also wrote the number one hit 'A World Without Love' and several other hits for Peter And Gordon featuring Jane's brother Peter Asher (who later worked for Apple). McCartney stayed in the Asher family home at 57 Wimpole Street from 1964 to 1966 and wrote many Beatles songs there. He wrote in a room usually used for music lessons by Jane's mother, Margaret Eliot, who was a professor of oboe at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (she previously taught George Martin to play the instrument and later taught Paul McCartney to play the recorder). The Asher house was also a place of intellectual stimulation for McCartney. He enjoyed the rarefied atmosphere of upper-middle class conversation and company that the house afforded, and to which he aspired. According to Cynthia Lennon, McCartney was "as proud as a peacock" to have Jane as a girlfriend, and saw her as "a great prize". On 25th December 1967, McCartney and Asher announced their engagement, and she accompanied McCartney to India in February 1968. McCartney did not stop having one-night stands with other women during his time with Asher, because he felt that since they were not married, it was allowed. Asher broke off the engagement in early 1968, after coming back from a theatre performance in Bristol to find Paul in bed with another woman, the groupie Francie Schwartz. The couple attempted to mend the relationship, but finally broke it off in July 1968. Asher has consistently refused to publicly discuss McCartney or her time with him, and has maintained her position on the matter to this day. She is described by the Beatles biographer Hunter Davies as the only major Beatles associate not to have published her recollections. Jane is well known in the United Kingdom for her television career and also her cookery books. Postage/Shipping:
