Jaquet Droz is a Swiss watch brand that dates back to 1738, when Pierre Jaquet Droz was on his way to establishing himself as an unquestionable watchmaker and craftsman. He earned great respect after his travel to Spain in 1758, when the King bought his entire stock. Prior to that he had only one workshop in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, but this allowed him to open a second workshop in London, where he started his masterpieces. He later opened a third workshop in Geneva.
Highly recognized, Pierre Jaquet Droz, was touring around the world and being universally applauded for his works of art, both horologically and aesthetically. He was known as the finest craftsman of his days and went on to teaching his techniques to many exceptional watchmakers and craftsmen.
Connoisseurs are already familiar with the classic Grande Seconde. The Jaquet Droz Manufacture of Haute Horlogerie is now introducing the Grande Seconde in a Limited Edition of 88. The European Guilloche art majestically highlights the harmony and balance embodied in the hour and minute subdial subtly adjoined to the large seconds subdial. The figure 8 thus formed, representing a symbol of success in China, is a reminder of the success encountered by the founder Pierre Jaquet Droz in the 18th century, when he delivered his wonderful watch and jeweler to the very heart of the Forbidden City.
Jaquet Droz is justifiably proud of the Grande Seconde. On the one hand, its dial provides a refined interpretation of its mastery in the art of Guilloche on the dial – an exceptional skill that the brand exercises with outstanding expertise. This decorative dial arrangement truly captures the spirit and quality of the brand.
With this Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde, issued in a limited edition of 88, Jaquet Droz is treating itself to a first. This watch uses 18K Rose Gold, Steel and Blued Steel to achieve perfect chromatic harmony. The Dial is gorgeous, with lancine-type hands, representing a break with tradition and paving the way for a genuine innovation. Nonetheless, this timepieces has retained all the signature technical characteristics of the Grande Seconde: the smooth-polished 18K Rose Gold Case, Cambered Crystal, Transparent Sapphire Caseback revealing the mechanical twin-barrel Self-Winding Movement with a Power Reserve of more than 68 hours, 22-carat oscillating weight with sunray motif, as well as the individual number. The Grande Secondes is a Limited Edition piece of only 88 of its kind worldwide, and evokes a sense of absolute accomplishment and an unforgettable encounter with the universal. Ying, yang.
