Throughout history many of man's accomplishments wouldn't be here without a woman's insight and inspiration. Would Ludwig van Beethoven have written his great symphonies without his 'immortal beloved'? Would William Shakespeare have created his great plays without the encouragement of Queen Elizabeth I? In the case of one 19th century watchmaking company, the true source of enlightenment appeared in the form of the founder's widow who not only maintained the firm after her husband's passing, but also knew when the time was right to relinquish it to another.
In the northwestern portion of Switzerland sits a region admiringly referred to as 'Watch Valley' where cities like Genva and Neuchtel that have gained prestige for legendary watchmaking craftsmanship and design for decades. Right in the middle of it all rests the quiet town of St. Imier. By 1866, this small town had its own group of hometown watchmakers, but for the most part only a handful had ever seen any national success. One of these watchmakers was a man by the name of Jules Frederic Jeanneret.
Although it would take a few more years before 'J.F. Jeanneret' would be fully recognized, the company did flourish under the direction of Jules and his beloved wife. Jules Jeanneret's dream nearly came to an end in 1889 when he suddenly passed away. But then Madame Jeanneret continued to run the company for another 6 years until ultimately she decided it was time for another to continue what she and her late husband had begun. And so in 1902 the widow turned over the firm to Samuel Jeanneret whom immediately transferred over all of his predecessor's trademarks and watch designs over to his own name.
In commemoration of the traditions and spirit of Madame and Monsieur Jeanneret comes this line of ladies timepieces. Keep in mind that wearing a Jeanneret timepiece is not just about refined elegance. It's true that each watch is created with the finest materials including individual semi-precious stones and soft mother-of-pearl dials. Jeanneret is also about undeniable dependability and strength that's personified in the construction of these timepieces with water resistance and case/bracelet materials not found in most other ladies dress watch lines.
