Jeffries Falcon Adler VSD Saddle
17.5" Seat, Wide Tree, Havana Brown Leather
According to the manufacturer:
"This superb saddle is designed as a general purpose saddle with tendency to dressage. It is constructed on a cut back spring tree with hide covered seat and skirts, smooth leather straight cut flaps with cushioned kneepads. It features a gusseted panel with a wide channel to provide comfort and fit and kneerolls to assist riding position."
This is a really nice, top-quality saddle that fits a variety of horses quite well. The broad gullet channel and wool-flocked panels are quite comfortable for the horse, and the saddle puts the rider in a good position as well. Though marketed as a VSD ("very slightly dressage") style saddle and designed to be ideal for flatwork, it's actually balanced well for fairly low fences (up to 2'6" or 3') - I find this saddle much more comfortable for jumping than some of the all-purpose saddles that are common in the United States (such as the Collegiate Senior Event), as the seat isn't quite so deep and restrictive.
This saddle is made of lovely, quality English leather. Jeffries refers to the color as havana, although it's a bit lighter than the typical deep chocolate havana and closer to Stubben's havana color. The saddle was sold to me as a 17.5" seat, though it appears Jeffries only technically offers it in 17" and 18" sizes. However, it measures 17.5" from the center of the button to the center of the cantle, and it rides like a 17.5". It shows normal wear, particularly under the stirrup leathers, but it is otherwise in great condition. This saddle is incredibly difficult to find in the United States and retails over $2000. Don't miss this opportunity!
