C & D Gifts Indian Art

This auction is for an Authentic Native American Hand made and Hand painted "Lightning Vase" pottery! It is approximately 4" tall and 2 3/4" wide. It has lightning designs etched around the perimeter and a stone polished finish with a peach colored slip! This is from the Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico. Jemez Pueblo Indians are famous for their Beautiful red clay pottery. The clay is dug from secret grounds around the Pueblo. This was made by, "Elston & Dena Yepa" and signed on the bottom.  We purchased this directly from Elston & Dena.

Elston and Dena Yepa are a husband & wife team. Elston was born in 1976 and Dena was born in 1975. They have been making pottery since 1996. Elston is from the Fire Clan and Dena is from the Frog Clan. They were taught by Elston’s mother & father Lupita & Lawrence Yepa, and also Elston's grandmother, Martha Toya. They gather the clay from around the Reservation, use both natural & acrylic paints and fire the pottery both outdoors and in a kiln. Elston says his favorite part of his art is that it is all natural Mother Earth. He is the nephew of Lawrence Toya and Marie Chinana. They are also related to Alvina Yepa and Marcella Yepa.

Note: This is "not" the same piece they are holding in the photo.
