This is a rare advertising handbill (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the two-week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the NEIL SIMON, BURT BACHARACH and HAL DAVID musical comedy hit "PROMISES, PROMISES" at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. beginning October 29th, 1968. (The production would open December 1st, 1968 at the Shubert Theatre in New York City and run for 1281 performances.) ..... The musical starred the late JERRY ORBACH (awarded the 1969 Tony Award for "Best Actor in a Musical"), JILL O'HARA and EDWARD WINTER and featured DONNA McKECHNIE, PAUL REED, DICK O'NEILL, VINCE O'BRIEN, A. LARRY HAINES, MARIAN MERCER, MILLIE SLAVIN, ADRIENNE ANGEL, BARBARA LANG and NORMAN SHELLY. (Note: The three stars are the only cast members mentioned by name in the text of the handbill.) ..... This single page, two-sided handbill measures 4 1/2" X 12" inches and includes wonderful graphics and production credits on the front and promotional text and a ticket order form on the backside. (Note: Due to its unusual size, the handbill has been scanned in separate images to maximize the text. Also, the flyer has been photographed against a dark background and does not have a border.) .....
