What is dropship?

Drop shipping is when a company lets someone use their products, image, and wholesale price, retail price to sell on say Ebay or another auction. The customer doesn’t touch the product. The customer puts the company’s images and gets it from the company for wholesale or less and sells your product for whatever the customer wants to sell it for. Then when someone buys the companies product at the customers price, the customer puts the order into the company for their price, so they get paid, and the customer keeps the rest of the money. Then the company sends the product out to the customer’s customer. You put your customers name and address on the order form so that they think it's coming from your customer. It's a win-win situation.

Drop shipment or drop shipping is a type of retailing where the retailer does not keep goods in stock, but instead passes the customer's order and shipment details to the wholesaler, who then dispatches the goods to the customer directly. The retailer makes their profit on the difference between the wholesale and retail price.


Some retailers may still keep "show" items on display in stores so that customers can inspect an item similar to those that they can purchase. Other retailers may only provide a catalogue or Internet presence.


Drop shipping can occur when a retailer (who typically sells in small quantities to the general public) receives a single large order for a product. Rather than route the shipment through the retail store, the retailer will arrange for the goods to be shipped directly to the purchaser.
