Here for auction is an extraordinary and detailed coloured map of 18th century Ireland.

This is from this period (c1969) - it is NOT a recent copy.

This strong paper map came from the collection of a retired Dublin "Bord Failte" photographer.

Note that the detail is perfect.
In modern digital reproductions often the detail becomes blurred.

This is an amazing map - see how county Clare is in Connaught!
Lakes, mountains and rivers are described in old style English/Irish language.
It is pre canals and of course also pre railways.
Amazing the large present day towns that are not in it!  Where is Ennis?!!
And apparently not many bridges over the river Shannon - one of course in Limerick and the next one not untill you get to Athlone - way up the river!

With two large flamboyant and very detailed cartouches.  Large crowned crest of Ireland on main cartouche, surrounded by women, putti and other figures.
Lower cartouche with four mileage scales, the crowned crest of the British isles , surrounded by rampant lion and unicorn.
And an allegorical scene of fishermen with nets and a boy with fish.
(see last image, as example only, of an ORIGINAL map from a recent fine-art auction held in Ireland)

Johann Baptiste Homann(also Homanno, Bpt.) born in Kammlach, Germany (1663-1724) was the founder (1702, Nuremberg) of the Homann map-making and publishing business.
He was engraver, map-seller and geographer to the Kaiser of the Holy Roman Empire (1715). He also was member of the Prussian Royal Academy of Science.
His first partner was his son, Johann Christoph Homann (c. 1703-1730), and thereafter the heirs to the two principal founders: Johann Michael Franz (1700-1761), Johann Mathias Hase (1684-c. 1742), Johann George Ebersperger (1695-1760), and others.
The Homann family became the most important map publishers in Germany during the 18th century. After the founder’s death in 1724, the firm was continued under the direction of his son, and then was bequeathed to his heirs on condition that it traded under the name, “Homann Heirs.”

Measures:   22.50" X 22.50" (greatest).

Condition:   Very Good - unused as new. Blank on reverse.

Please note and allow for world wide fixed shipping rate.

Add $8.00 to the total for insurance, packing and shipping.

If you are on the island of Ireland - half the rate.

GOOD LUCK!
