This is a reproduction 8261C John Deere model R spreader drive sprocket
This is a reproduction casting of original part #8261C which is a drive sprocket for John Deere model R manure spreader. This is a large gear, measuring over 20" in diameter and weighing 22 pounds. It has 42 teeth and is suspectible to breaking. These have been obsolete many years and used ones are non-existent. When we were in need of one to keep a manure spreader going we had a few made. This was not inexpensive to have made so bear this in mind when bidding. It may be pricey but it's really the difference between having a manure spreader to use or a yard ornament.
Many of these spreaders are still in use especially on smaller hobby farms or operations. It's also increasingly popular to see a restored manure spreader or two at an antique tractor show. Normally it will be hooked up to a restored John Deere Model A, B, G or even a 730 tractor. It makes a great display and is educational in addition letting the public know how the implements were used with the tractors during the day. If you've had a spreader sitting out back for years due to this gear being broken, here's your chance.
