I'm thinning down my personal collection, and this is my final remaining new copy of the "Two-Cylinder Collectors Series, Volume 1". Printed in 1991, this book is a volume of greatly updated material covering the tractors covered in the Two-Cylinder Club's Newsletters of 1985. This book has not been available for many years, and many newer collectors may have never seen one. Pages 6-41 includes historical articles about the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works in the early days, with articles from the Waterloo Courier, March 23, 1918, a article written by L.W. Witry ("father" of the Waterloo Boy and Model "D" Tractors) from 1920, another from 1930, and remembrances in 1960, from Jack Cade, who began his 40-year career at Waterloo in March, 1920. The balance of the 112 pages covers the "GP" Wide-Tread Series "P" (potato) Tractor, the "GP" Orchard Tractor ("GPO"), the Model "D" Hawkeye Motor Patrol (a conversion of the Model "D" Tractor to a road grader), the Model "60" Tractor, and the Model "R" Diesel Tractor. This book is filled with facts, rare photographs, and should be on the bookshelf of anyone even casually interested in John Deere Tractors.
