John Saul ~ Lot of 5

2 Hardback / 3 Paperback

This lot of 5 books is a rollercoaster ride of suspense and thrills!  All 5 books are used but in great condition!  Here is a list of books in this package deal!

Hardback ~ "Guardian" ~ A telephone ringing in the dead of the night signals the beginning of a journey into fear as MaryAnne Carpenter, newly separated and struggling to raise her two children alone, hears the shocking news:  two thousand miles away, her friends, the Wilkensons are suddenly, inexplicably dead, thier only child, MaryAnne's godchild, abruptly orphaned.  Even as MaryAnne rushes to embrace her young charge the disturbing questions mount.  Was it merely chance - though tragic - mishap that took these lives?  Or was it murder?  Soon, Maryanne will begin to suspect an even more sinister force at work.  For Joey Wilkenson, a sad and silent adolescent, seems to harbor secrets beyond her most nightmarish imaginings.  As early winder closes in on the majestic, lonely spot where the Wilkensons have built thier beautiful ranch, transforming the mountain landscape into a forboding place of blinding storms and dangerous darkness,  Joey's sly secretivemess, his volatile temper, begin to turn MaryAnne's tender feelings to icy fear.  And soon, as a series of horrific murders draws ever closer to her young family - killings that suggest some raging animal, or worse - and defy solution by a desperate police force - MaryAnne begins to know the true meaning of terror.

In Guardian, the forces of nature and the forces of evil combine chillinglyin a complexly woven novel of psychological suspense, as a peaceful haven becomes a prison where, alone in the howling winter whiteness, MaryAnne Carpenter must guard her children against an unseen, ever more insatiable killer - a killer who is closer than she thinks......

Hardback ~ "Black Lightening" ~ For five years Seattle has been seized in the terrifying grip of a monster as black as evil itself:  a sadistic serial killer who methodically lures his victims to grisly deaths in order to satisfy a twisted pasion.  For five years journalist Anne Jeffers has pursued this horrifying story like a woman obsessed - following the killer's capture, trial, and appeal - crusading to keep the wheels of justice churning toward the electric chair, never believing the prisoner's steadfast denials of guilt. Now the day of execution has come.  A convicted killer will meet his end.  Anne believes her five-year nightmare is over.  Until, within days, a similar murder stuns the city, forcing Anne to face some disturbing questions:  Was the wrong man put to death?  And is she to blame?  Or did he have an accomplice who longs to continue a bloody legacy?  Is a copycat killer at work?  But how could any imitator so cannily re-create all the gruesome hallmarks of a murderer's modus operandi, details kept completely secret from all but the police?  As the murderer stalks his next victims, creeping ever closer to her, Anne cannot help but feel an icy unease, a hauting sense of connection to these unspeakable crimes.  And relentlessly, she hears the eerie echo of the dead man's last words to her: "Today won't end it.  How will you feel, Anne?  When I'm dead, and it all starts again, how will you feel?"

In "Black Lightening", John Saul strikes with a novel as electrifying as a jagged bolt from a pitch-dak sky, proving once again his inimitable genius for suspense.

Paperback ~ "The Unloved" ~ "There are some things best left alone."  What could Ruby have meant?  What could there be in a nursery that required that it be kept locked up?  Anne reached for the ring of keys that hung inside the door.  The soft clink as it came free from teh hook seemed to echo loudly through the kitchen, and she quickly silenced the sound with her hand, then hurried back toward the stairs.  She could sense something different as soon as she reached the second floor landing.  She paused once more, listening, but he house was quiet, and outside the insects had begun softly chirping once again.  And yet, as she stared along the corridor toward the door to the nursery, a sense of unease - stronger than the vague guilt she had felt earlier - pervaded her mind.  Perhaps she should give it up, and simply put the nursery out of her mind, but she knew she couldn't.  Steeling herself for whatever she might find, she walked quickly to the locked  nursery door.  The eighth key fit.  She twisted it in the lock, then turned the knob and pushed the door open a crack.  Inside, the room was pitch black and Anne felt along the wall for a light switch.  A moment later, the room filled with a brilliant white light.  Anne pushed the door wide ~ and screamed!

Paperback ~ "Sleep Walk" ~ Burrego, New Mexico.  A peaceful little desert town.  Except for one thing.  Someone here hates teenagers.  Hates them.  These troublemakers.  These rebels, have to be controlled ~ Silenced.  Forever.  Now he has discovered an insidious way to strike back at them.  In thier sleep.  In thier waking hours.  Anytime.  He is a madman with terrifying powers and soon he will draw Burrego's children beyone the brink of night......

Paperback ~ "Nightshade" ~ Fifteen year old Matthew Moore seems to have a charmed life ~ until a mysterious fire forces his grandmother to move in with his family.  The elderly woman insists on recreating the bedroom of Cynthia, her favorite child, who died more than a decade ago.  Soon Matt's life insidiously begins to change.  At night, he finds himself haunted by nightmares of unimaginable terror.  In the morning, the smell of Cynthia's perfume seems to linger in his room while his grandmother drives a wedge between his once devoted parents.  Matt transforms from a gregarious teenager to a hostile loner.  The a shocking tragedy shatters the family beyond repair ~ as a horrific shadow from the past takes on a implacable life of its own, clawing toward Matt with ferocious hunger............
