Report item Greetings from Jerry Roberts in Nashville. Thanks for taking time to look at one of dozens of classical guitars I have in stock for sale. Up for bid is a 1995 classical guitar handmade by the late Thomas Johnson in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. Tom was a lifelong friend of Robert Ruck. Ruck lived for a time next door to Tom in WI. Although Tom had built for at least as long as Ruck, Tom got some supervision, plans, help, and wood from Ruck. It uses the 6-fan bracing and body shape that most of Rucks guitars used and it sounds like a Ruck, Although it is not quite up to Ruck’s very high standards in the looks dept. It has a wonderful spruce top and highly figured old growth Brazilian rosewood, with all French polish finish. One back crack 3 inlches long in the upper bout, repaired by Tom during construction, does not show on the outside but you can see two diamond shaped patches inside, no other cracks. No problems. Sound is powerful and on the Spanish side. It is virtually unplayed since I acquired it from Tom new in the 1990’s, and could use a couple of hundred hours of playing to put it in its prime. Scale is 654mm and very comfortable to play. Includes a nice hardshell case. Included is an excellent hard case.
