Jolly Rogers F4U Corsair Trudgian Signed Aviation Art

Limited edition aviation art print The Jolly Rogers signed in pencil by Captain TOM BLACKBURN, Rear Admiral ROGER HEDRICK, Lieutenant DAN CUNNINGHAM, Lieutenant TOM KILLEFER and artist NICOLAS TRUDGIAN.  The Jolly Rogers, so named because of their skull and crossbones insignia, were also less glamorously referred to as the Irregulars or the Cast-Offs due to their somewhat boisterous behavior and disdain of authority.  Squadron Commander Tom Blackburn, however, thought he had the best fighter of the war in the Corsair and on November 1, 1943 the pilots of VF-17 made their presence felt over Bougainville by shooting down 6 Japanese aircraft in their first battle.  Over the course of their combat in the Solomons, VF-17 accounted for 156 enemy aircraft and produced the highest number of aces of any squadron in the Navy.  The Jolly Rogers were the toast of the Navy brass.

The photos do not do this well-done and long SOLD OUT Corsair print justice.  The signatures on this print are of very high quality – you will seldom do better on an F4U print.  The COA is included.  Overall print size is generous at approximately 36 by 24 inches.  Print condition is excellent, never framed and stored flat in acid-free materials.
