This is a rare program (playbill) from the week of February 3rd, 1924 for the out-of-town tryout of the LAJOS BIRO comedy "THE HIGHWAYMAN" at the Shubert-Jefferson Theatre in Saint Louis, Missouri.  (The production opened December 25th, 1923 at the Playhouse Theatre in Chicago and closed on the road, failing to arrive on Broadway.) ..... The play starred JOSEPH SCHILDKRAUT and featured JESSIE ROYCE LANDIS in her stage debut. Others in the cast included RICHARD EARLE, CORBETT MORRIS, HILDA GRAHAM, PHILIP LORD, CHARLES HEEDE, GRANT STEWART, JOHN WESTLEY, THEODORE WESTMAN, Jr., ELISE BARTLETT and N. R. CREAGAN ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a seam split below the bottom staple and light edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian .....
