This copy comes from the estate of Joan Daves. Joan Daves was literary agent for six Nobel laureates and regarded with great esteem among literary giants. Her Nobel Prize-winning clients included Heinrich Boll (1972), Elias Canetti (1981), Herman Hesse (1946), the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1964), Nelly Sachs (1966) and Gabriela Mistral (1945). All but Dr. King, who won the Nobel Peace Prize and took Ms. Daves with him to Stockholm when he received the award, were laureates in literature. Daves often collaborated with Doris Dana on projects involving Gabriela Mistral. Joan Daves died in 1997. Inscribed on FFEP "For Joan with much love" and signed with the initial "V" as in Victor. A scarce signed copy with tipped on slip stating "Not for Sale, Sample Complete Copy".
