Album notes
Personnel includes: Robert Earl Keen, Shawn Colvin. Texan progressive-country troubadour Robert Earl Keen offers up a healthy serving of organic tunes on FARM FRESH ONIONS. The opening track, "Furnace Fan," serves as a charming tribute to Arizona that's buoyed by Marty Muse's pedal steel and Ian McLagan's organ. On this track, and throughout the album, Keen's vocal presence is immediately endearing as he sings songs filled with wanderlust and wry humor. Other highlights include "Out Here in the Middle" (with Shawn Colvin on harmony vocals), the raw title track, "Floppy Shoes" (with its Stevie Wonder/"Superstition"-like funk), the thoughtful "These Years," and the hushed short story of "Famous Words."
